In November 2019, a five-day workshop was organized in Siem Reap, Cambodia, for countries in the region to deepen their understanding of tax analysis and national advocacy. Colleagues from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines all took part in the workshop to familiarize themselves with the new Fair Tax Monitor methodology and to know more about how to influence on tax incentives regionally (with ASEAN).

This workshop led to a joint strategy and to the release of a report on tax incentives in the region.

The regional workshop was a result of a FESM request that came in from the team in Cambodia looking for support to organise a workshop to sharpen their tax analysis and advocacy in country. After initial conversations with the FAIR-EIU Support Mechanism (FESM) team, it became evident that there was interest for this kind of training within the region.
